Bad Day Picker Upper: Instant Happy Journal

I love to write and I love to read those pick me up and help me learn to stay there type books. When I saw the Instant Happy Journal by Karen Salmansohn I just had to see what it was all about. Besides a journal that will inspire me to write who could refuse that adorably cute polka dot cover?

This is a very cute book. I love the built in yellow book mark that allows me to easily find where I need to be for my next entry. The book is small in size but thick with plenty of pages. It promises to have 365 days of happy things that will prompt you to write and reflect on the happy moments. The pages are not numbered and no I have not taken the dedication to count them for verification that there are 365 but I trust that they are honest. You can write first thing in the morning to start your day off on a happy note or in the evening to pick you up after a tough day. I go with the latter, I can always use a nice pick me up and a reminder after a long day to reflect on the positive from that day.

The pages in the journal are simple yet pretty. There are different colors all through the journal. There are reds, blues ,oranges ,purples, greens, and pinks. As the colors change in the book so does each of the page designs, there are dots, lines, borders and the such. Each page has a spot for the date and then the lines where you are free to write what ever your heart desires. On the very front page there is the “this journal belongs to” page where you can write in your name.

Now to my tiny gripe and honestly the only one that I have. The small book is nice UNTIL I get ready to write. I like to write and once I start it is hard to stop. The prompt gets me writing and then I have to cut my thoughts short to fit it on the page. The only other gripe I have is not the book it is my horrible hand writing. This book is so cute and then it has my messy scribble. That is not at all a fault of the book though, that is my own for not learning how to write better as a kid!

If you enjoy writing and would like a small smile at least for a few minutes of your day then this book is for you. If you think writing is more horrible than a horse shot in the hip then this is probably not going to be your choice of entertainment. Good penmanship is a plus but as you can see from above it is not required!

All this being said I have been writing in the journal for a bit now. I think the pages will be great to reflect back on later and take a trip down a happy memory lane. Am I always happier, by no means no, today has been a horrible day. So horrible I wonder if I can find the happy to write about in my journal. I need to share some words of wisdom a friend told me today or recently that inspired me. Right now the only thing I can think of is let your thoughts process before you open your mouth because today sure has been a spout out what you think kind of day. So with my day fellow readers please wish me luck and you might want to say a little prayer for me for patience.

I did receive a copy of this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion. This review has not been influenced by Blogging for Books or the author in any way. The opinions are 100% my own after my journal writing experience with this book.
