New Lean Cuisine “Honestly Good” ?

If it Only Tastes as Good as the Box Makes it Look

If it Only Tastes as Good as the Box Makes it Look

Let me begin by saying I love a good deal and I sure got one on this dinner! Thanks to In Love With Food, a later review for you to look forward to, I received my Honestly Good Lean Cuisine for a whopping .37 cents. Now folks that is a deal! Could have probably gotten it for free like the coupon stated if I could have located it anywhere other than Kroger. With this being said lets get down to business and talk about the taste, the value, the selection, the ease of purchase, and last but not least the price.
I am a big fan of chicken so this helped me make my selection a little easier. I picked to try the honey citrus chicken. The box looked like a great deal compared to some of the other Lean Cuisine dinners and even some of the other brands. What I found upon opening was indeed there was a full piece of grilled chicken but for the chicken the veggies, noodles, and sauce seemed to have been cut way back. I was still not sad after all I got the best part of the meal super sized compared to others I have eaten. Cook time of 5 minutes in my microwave and I was ready to put this meal to the taste test.
The chicken was excellent if you are like myself and enjoy the flavor of chicken. The sauce packed a bit of a flavorful punch reminding me almost of a Chinese dish. The chicken and sauce made a super combo but I wish there would have been enough for the broccoli, squash and noodles. Speaking of broccoli it had a nice steamed flavor and the noodles which I had never really been introduced to before looked almost like tiny squish bows held flavor excellently. The squash thank goodness was very little because it was a bit slimy and I am just really not that into squash any other way other than fried. So all in all I liked the taste and by no means complained for the deal I had gotten with the price I paid.
This being said I had to look for a while before I located this meal to try. I searched 3 different Walmarts in two different states and a Save-A-Lot before finally running across, OK I made a special trip to purchase, this at a Kroger. I am uncertain if Food Lion might have the item in stock but it would be worth checking if I ever have a craving for this again because one of those is closer than Kroger to where I live. Then on to the price shock. Yes I did say shock. The label read $4.79. That is higher than the cost of A Hungry Man, and no I am not talking about my husband…or yours…you know those big man sized dinners that are easy to find to purchase. This being stated I find it very difficult to justify the cost when compared to the amount of product. All of these being said, I will close with my final statement.
The Lean Cuisines Honestly Good are decently tasty. In my humble opinion they should add more veggies and for sure more sauce if they wish to sell this product at almost five bucks a pop. They do have a decent selection for people who like chicken, salmon, or even beef, which would be my second choice to taste test. I would rate the product a 3 star because for the price I do not feel you get a really good value, I had trouble locating the product to purchase so this makes it a bit less appealing for me, and then for the price I could find a lot of meals with more substance. The taste was good and the cook time low but on a regular night I would still be hungry after eating this meal, so on a normal shopping trip I am going to reach for something a little more filling and a little less expensive.
