I had not noticed Gillette Venus & Olay razor and refills on any store shelves. A good friend gave me a coupon for $5 off the purchase of a Gillette Venus & Olay razor and refills. The coupon peaked my interest. I enjoy trying new products. Saving five bucks made it a no-brainer and I decided to check it out. The razor was $8.97 and refills were around $15. This is very close in comparison to all the other razors stocked. I decided to give the product a try. I am so glad I did!

Gillette Venus Meets Olay

Upon opening the product I thought I had made a huge mistake. The razor had two small Olay bars around the blades of the razor. The last product I had used like this had broken my legs out.

I gave the product a try anyway. After all the negative experience had been years ago and was not an Olay product. The razor was very easy to use. Just wet the bars and shave. You did not need shaving gel or cream. The sugarberry scent was totally awesome. The razor shaved smooth and did not cause any irritation. Along with the great razor the package had also included a suction cup holder. The holder helped the razor to dry and not waste and smear the Olay bars.

The Good and the Bad

What I did notice is that the Olay bars were wearing down pretty quick. At the rate of first use I would estimate that you might get 3-5 shaves out of a cartridge. Of course it is depending on how many times you rinse the razor in the water. This is only an estimate and I have no idea how long a cartridge will actually last. This and the cost of refills are the only down side that I can find to this product.

Gillette Venus & Olay are very easy to find if you wish to purchase your own. Mine was purchased from Walmart. Unless Dollar General or Family Dollar carries the product, Walmart is probably the cheaper place to make your purchase. I would expect to be able to find them at CVS, Rite Aid, or Walgreens as well.

Rating the Gillette Venus & Olay

This is my low down on the Gillette Venus & Olay razor. I would give the product an overall 9 stars because of the products performance, ease of use, ease of purchasing, and overall quality. It missed the 10 mark because I feel the cartridges may not be as good a value as those for some of the competitor razors.
